How a treble is worked out
Convert each price to decimal odds and multiply all three together. Evens (2.0), 6/4 (2.5) and 2/1 (3.0) combine to odds of 15, so every £1 staked returns £15 if all three win.
| Selection | Odds | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | evens | Won |
| 2 | 6/4 | Won |
| 3 | 2/1 | Won |
| Part of the bet | Stake | Returns |
|---|---|---|
| 1 treble | £5.00 | £75.00 |
| Total | £5.00 | £75.00 |
Profit: £70.00
When one selection is void
A void selection drops out at odds of 1, and the rest of the bet carries on as a double:
| Selection | Odds | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | evens | Void |
| 2 | 6/4 | Won |
| 3 | 2/1 | Won |
| Part of the bet | Stake | Returns |
|---|---|---|
| 1 treble | £5.00 | £37.50 |
| Total | £5.00 | £37.50 |
Profit: £32.50
A treble or a Trixie?
The weakness of a treble is that one loser sinks the whole bet. A Trixie covers the same three selections with three doubles as well as the treble. It costs four stakes instead of one, but two winners are enough to get something back.
Each way trebles
An each way treble is two trebles: one needs all three selections to win, and the other needs all three to place, at their place odds. Turn on each way in the calculator to see both parts.
Common questions
Is a treble an accumulator?
Technically yes, since it accumulates the odds of several selections. In everyday use, "accumulator" usually means four or more selections, and two or three are called a double and a treble.
What happens if one selection is void?
It counts as odds of 1, so the treble is settled as a double on the other two selections.
How is a treble different from a Trixie?
A treble is one bet that needs all three selections to win. A Trixie uses the same three selections in four bets, adding three doubles, so two winners are enough for a return.
