How to use the bet calculator
Choose your bet type first. The calculator sets up the right number of selections and tells you how many bets are inside it, which is what decides the cost. A £1 Yankee, for example, is 11 separate £1 bets, so it costs £11.
Then enter your stake. Per bet is the amount on each individual bet, which is how most bookmakers ask for it. If you'd rather say how much you're spending in total, switch to Total stake and the calculator divides it for you.
Enter the odds for each selection in fractional, decimal or American format, and mark how it finished. Leave a selection as Won to see what the bet would pay if it wins. Turn on Each way for bets with a place part, and Rule 4 and dead heats if a horse race was affected by a late withdrawal or a tie.
Return and profit
The total return is everything the bookmaker pays back, including your stake. Profit is the return minus what you staked. A bet can return money and still make a loss, which is common with full cover bets where only one or two selections win.

Straight bets need every selection to win. Full cover bets combine the same selections in every possible double, treble and larger accumulator, so you can get a return without everything winning. The ones with singles (Patent and the Lucky bets) pay out from a single winner.
Common questions
Will my bookmaker pay the same amount?
The calculator uses standard UK settlement rules, so for a normal bet the figures should match. Bookmakers can pay more through extras such as Best Odds Guaranteed, Lucky 15 bonuses or acca boosts, and Rule 4 deductions can reduce horse racing returns. Check your bet slip for any of these.
Does it work for football and other sports?
Yes. The maths is the same for any sport. Each way and Rule 4 mostly apply to horse racing, so you can leave those switched off for football, tennis and similar bets.
What does void mean?
A void selection is one that didn't count, usually a non-runner or a postponed match. The stake on it is returned, and in a multiple bet it is treated as if it had odds of 1, so a double with one void leg is settled as a single.
